AFTERCARE
Please note that each clients skin responds differently to all treatments.
If you are planning your tattoo for a specific occasion please bear the healing guide in mind.
The aftercare is a large part of your healed result and is a very important process in achieving the best outcome for your tattoo.
This information acts as a guideline from my tested methods and products to specifically suit my techniques.
HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR NEW COSMETIC TATTOO
Now you have your new beautiful tattoo there are just a few aftercare steps to follow.

For the best healed results I have set up a simple healing guide to help you through the process for the next 10 days.
You will leave the studio with your aftercare pack and instructions card.

You will use the supplied products to gently cleanse and protect the tattooed area twice a day.

for the next 10 days following your appointment you will need to:

AVOID EXCERSCISE - do not get too hot or sweaty in the face for the healing process. This includes no saunas or spas for this time.

AVOID THE SUN - Keep your tattoo out of the sun throughout the healing process the best way to do this is by wearing a hat.

NO MAKEUP ON THE TATTOOED AREA - Do not apply any makeup or products other than the aftercare supplied for the healing process.
Keep the area clean and let it breathe.

KEEP THE TATTOO DRY - Do not soak your face underwater in a bathtub or allow the shower to spray directly in your face. You may shower or bathe normally, but avoid getting your tattoo wet or for any soaps, shampoos or other cleansers to be on the treated area. This can be detrimental to the bonding process.

DO NOT PICK OR SCRATCH AT THE FLAKINESS - Just let the skin fall off naturally. This can cause scarring and premature loss of pigment.
While healing do not tint, dye, or bleach over the tattoo for one month following your tattoo.
Do not wax, or use hair removal products on the treated area while your tattoo is healing.
No swimming pools, saunas or other bodies of water for two weeks.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE HEALING PROCESS
Straight after your tattoo you will go through a healing process before the final results are visible. From day 1 through week 4 the ink will fade and soften.
During the initial healing period, the area may feel a bit like sunburn or how a blind pimple feels but there should only be minimal discomfort. There should be minimal flaking of your tattoo and the surrounding skin. If there is some flaking, do not pick at the tattoo, allow the dry skin to come off at its own accord.

The complete healing process takes around 6 to 8 weeks, and this is when the true colour of your tattoo will show. During the healing process, your tattoo will go through phases and the colour will lighten and bloom as it heals leaving the soft true colour.
It is a process going through the healing phases. You will need to be patient and trust the process, even if you think the colour is too dark at the start, or if you feel too much colour has been lost.
Your skin is still regenerating its layers from the healing process and for you to see the true colour result you will need to wait at least 6 weeks, it is only after 6-8 weeks that your touch-up session can be done, and is very important it is completed within this time frame.
Once you have healed, exposure to the sun over time can cause fading/discolouration of the pigment. Bearing this in mind, I strongly advise once you have completely healed to apply sunscreen on the tattoo to protect it. Sunscreen is your tattoos best friend!
Any active face treatments or products must be kept away from the tattooed area as continued use could lighten the pigment. Specifically products containing alpha hydroxyls (ahas), retin-a, lactic or glycolic acids.
If you are having any kind of laser treatment after your tattoo has healed, please inform your laser technician. Laser procedures can affect your tattoo in a number of ways such as darken, lighten, or discolour the tattooed area.
Once the treated area is completely healed, any changes or additions that need to be made can be done at your follow-up appointment no sooner than 6-8 weeks later.

There guidelines are by no means implied or written guarantees if you do not take care of your tattoo once you have left the studio.
